Description

Dolph Briscoe was governor of Texas from 1973 to 1979, and John Nance Garner was Vice President of the United States under Franklin D. Roosevelt from 1933 to 1941. Both were influential in the Lone Star State and the country overall, and both spent the majority of their lives right here in Uvalde (Briscoe was born here, and Garner moved here in early adulthood). The museum dedicated to their stories is the former home of the Garners, and has been designated a National Historic Landmark. The Briscoe-Garner Museum is open Tuesday to Saturday 9 AM to 4 PM. Admissions is free, but donations are accepted.
