Property Description

The Hill Country is famous for its water recreation, and the Slowpoke Cabin near Kerrville is an amazing location for it! This fantastic waterfront guest house is not only right on the banks of Turtle Creek, but the tubing, kayaking, and swimming of the Guadalupe River is only a ten-minute drive from here. When you consider its peaceful country setting with tons of luxurious extras, all just 15 miles from downtown Kerrville, there's no question you've got a winner for your Hill Country escape!

Did we mention your private dock? Yep, it's right there on Turtle Creek, and there's even a kayak and paddle boat you can use to explore its waters. Test your angling skills off the dock, or enjoy a conversation and a snack around the riverside fire pit. While there's plenty to enjoy your backyard, keep in mind the water-based adventure and fun of the Guadalupe River is a short trip away.

A big limestone patio gives overlooks the creek, and it's luxuriously equipped with cushioned outdoor furniture. Enjoy a game of cornhole (bags) or badminton, and rustle up some hearty BBQ on the charcoal grill. There's a second fire pit on the patio (this one's propane), and there's even an outdoor shower for post-creek cleanup. This kid- and pet-friendly location is great for wildlife watching and stargazing, too! Smoking's allowed, but outside only.

Inside this fine waterfront rental, it's light and airy, with rustic wood floors and accents. The two bedrooms come with queen-sized beds, and there's a full bath with a shower/tub combo off the master bedroom. With a pull-out that's perfect for a child, there's sweet slumber space for up to five people. There's a second full bathroom, this one with a shower stall, and fresh linens are provided for bed and bath. You'll find a full kitchen, complete with modern appliances, cooking and serving ware, and a handy laundry room, as well. Two TVs (SmartTV with apps, and a Roku) on site, and there's also Wifi Internet and good cell service; there's even a laptop-friendly work area!

We're proud to invite our visitors to experience the Slowpoke Cabin for themselves! No matter what draws you to the Hill Country, a stay here will make your getaway a fun and memorable experience. Book this amazing guest home with Backroads Reservations today!

Biker Rallies of Texas

Supporting and boosting local businesses and events is at the very heart of what we do at Backroads Reservations! The good folks at Biker Rallies of Texas are the devoted organizers of the most popular motorcycle rallies in the Hill Country. With major rallies in the spring and fall, they work nonstop to assure safety, organization, great memories, and a good time is had by all attending! They’ve got their start in 2000, when they arranged rallies in Liberty County and Kerrville, Texas. Two years later, they found their permanent home in Bandera. Let’s take a look at the two major events they currently host.

Boerne’s Hill Country Mile

In the hustle of modern American life, it’s easy to lose sight of an important cultural fact: it’s difficult to get everything done on your daily to-do list without a car. Too many towns have been designed with outwardly-expanding sectors of commerce that put one business or attraction miles away from another. The larger the size of the town, the more true this adage seems to be.

My wife Courtney and golden retriever Arlo loved our stay at slowpoke cabin. Super relaxing and turned out to be the perfect location for hitting the Kerrville Folk Fest in the evening. Nicely appointed and the patio was really nice. Will definitely be back.
Deanne
We had a great time at the cabin. It was nice and quiet and just what we wanted. Sitting and watching the ducks and the river in the back was my favorite thing to do.
Nancy
We loved this place for us and our active elementary age kids. Plenty to do with a kayak, pedal boat, camp fire, hammock, corn hole, badminton, and a great back patio. 2 bathrooms was a plus and 2 bedrooms. The kitchen was really well stocked with kitchen items plus a few food items that were surprises. We love the location of only 20 minutes to get to Kerrville and the River Trail. It is a quiet small river with only us on it the whole time. Plenty of games to play inside too.
Steven&Megan
We loved this little place so much! The property is just as described, and the pictures don’t do it justice. We are a family of 4 with 2 under 3. The AC units kept us cool in the 100 degree weather, so don’t be too weary of the property not having central AC if you’re coming when it’s warm out. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you could need to cook on your trip. The most amazing part of this rental is the back of the property. It’s well kept, well lit and the perfect place to relax and fish, grill, look at stars and make s’mores! 10/10 would recommend!
Jennifer
We had an absolute wonderful time! The kids loved the paddle boat and we loved visiting by the fire pit and the ducks and the beauty! There were a million stars and a telescope to see them all! Love love love it there!
Lincoln
Wow! Right on the creek with access to the water within a few steps. This is a great find! Looking forward to staying again in during warmer temps.
