Property Description

One of the aspects of the Texas Hill Country that attracts travelers is its access to beautiful natural settings, and a great way to enjoy them is a getaway to Lucky Star Ranch Starlight cabin near Hondo! There are plenty of farm animals to pet and visit here, and the ranch is centrally located for day trips to a number of state parks and natural areas in the nearby neighborhood. When you factor in towns like Bandera and Hondo close by, you're really getting all of the best of the Hill Country!

Lucky Star Ranch Starlight cabin is a must for nature lovers, with its trees and Hill Country views! What's more, though, is the Hill Country State Natural Area is just three miles down the road; it's a wonderful place to hike, ride horseback, and admire wildlife. The Lost Maples State Natural Area and Garner State Park are both within an hour's drive from your cabin, as well!

It's hard to find a more animal-friendly vacation rental than Lucky Star Ranch Starlight cabin! The friendly goats, chickens, and ducks on the property love to be pet, and one of the "stars" is a dwarf Nigerian goat named Baby, who won first place in the Bandera 4th of July Pet Parade. There are horses you can pet, too, but not ride; however, boarding is available for your own horse. Check with us for details; a negative Coggins test is required. You can bring along a pet, as long as they get along with farm animals and are leashed on the property; limit one pet per cabin.

Amenities begin before you even enter your guest cabin! There's a shaded porch with rocking chairs for relaxing outside, perfect for morning coffee or a nightcap. Picnic tables and a charcoal grill are here for your favorite BBQ recipes, and a fire pit (firewood included) for s'mores and conversation. Laundry facilities are also available. Keep in mind outdoor extras and games are shared with two other cabins at Lucky Star. If you'd like to bring a larger group, the three cabins here sleep up to nine!

Golden woodwork and natural light fills Lucky Star Ranch Starlight cabin's interior, arranged in a studio layout with a bedroom, dining nook and kitchenette. The plush queen-sized bed sleeps two, and you can add a rollaway bed for one more person. The kitchenette includes a fridge, a microwave that doubles as a regular oven, a Keurig coffee maker, and basic utensils and serving ware. A Roku-ready smart TV is on hand, too, as well as Wifi service and efficient heating and cooling units. You'll have a clean full bath with a shower stall, and fresh linens are provided for both bed and bath.

A Genuine Wild West Gunfight: The Bandera Cattle Company Gunfighters

When bad hombres ride into town, who were the good guys who stepped up and protected the innocent town folk? When we turn our imaginations back to the Wild West chapter of American history, one of the first images we often conjure up from that rough-and-tumble and sometimes lawless time is the good guy vs. bad guy gunfight! The brief but intense skirmishes that occasionally resulted are compelling tidbits of history; they present plenty of drama and conflict, and were often influential turning points in the history of the region.

The Hill Country is Wine Country!

In the past two decades or so, the wine industry in the Hill Country has exploded with growth. That’s easy to see, with new wineries opening at a rapid pace...but we, and some of our readers, have questions. How are productive wine regions discovered? A Handy Hill Country Q & A

At Backroads Reservations, we’re especially aware that the Texas Hill Country is reliant in a big way on tourism. We’re proud to welcome people here, and to introduce them to our own little corner of heaven. With that said, we’re also aware that everyone can’t be from here; we have a tongue-in-cheeksaying that “I’m not from Texas, but I got here as fast as I could.”
