Description

Frio Cave near Concan is home to the second-largest bat population open to the public in the world! From mid-March to September, 10 to 12 million of them call the cave home, and they darken the skies at sunset as they come out to feed. As the bats appear, you’ll often see hawks, kestrels, and falcons in the mix, trying to snag a bat or two; they have to eat, too! Guided tours to this natural wonder take place in the spring and summer, as the bats migrate south during winter. Adult admission to the Frio Bat Flight Tours (12 and over) is $12; kids six to ten, $10; and seniors $11. Kids five and under get in free!
