Property Description

Your whole family will love this vintage home from the late 19th and early 20th century! It's been lovingly restored into one of the best family trip vacation rentals in the Hill Country. The Old House at Majestic Oaks is a sweet little bed and breakfast close to towns like Tarpley and Bandera. From your complimentary breakfast items to the swimming pool and miniature horses here, you'll grow to love all the special touches-all in the heart of the beautiful Texas Hill Country.

Majestic Oaks has two cabins that sit on an 80-acre working farm, all of which you're welcome to discover-it's fantastic for wildlife and bird watching and hiking! The miniature horses here love the company and attention of visitors, and they're a huge hit with the kids. Beyond the farm itself, there are miles of country roads where you can explore the Hill Country, and Garner State Park, Lost Maples and Hill Country State Natural Areas, and the tubing Mecca of the Medina River are all within a half hour's drive.

The cozy shaded porch here looks out over the swimming pool, where guests are welcome to take a dip! You'll have use of a charcoal grill, where your whole crew will enjoy a hearty BBQ meal, prepared and enjoyed in the fresh Hill Country air. The porch is generously furnished with patio furniture, and our smoking guests are more than welcome to do so, if they keep it outside.

Every morning, you'll be treated to a complimentary breakfast itmes, featuring bread or muffins, juice and coffee. The home is appointed with wood floors and vintage touches like a Franklin wood stove, a clawfoot tub, original sink and cabinets, and a wood stove. No worries, though; the kitchen's also fitted with modern appliances, utensils, cookware, and glasses. The full bath includes not only the vintage tub, but a hand-held shower head. The soft beds comfortably sleep up to three, and two additional guests are welcome, if you provide air mattresses. Bed and bath linens for all are included, as is bottled water-and you're welcome to a jar full of homemade cookies! Tech extras include a satellite TV with DVD player, a local phone, Wifi Internet access, and good cell service. Ceiling fans and box air and heating units keep the home perfectly comfy.

Whether you're seeking a family outing or a romantic getaway, you'll love the homey charm of the Old House! Get a hold of us at Backroads Reservations, and we'll be delighted to help you with booking.

Biker Rallies of Texas

Supporting and boosting local businesses and events is at the very heart of what we do at Backroads Reservations! The good folks at Biker Rallies of Texas are the devoted organizers of the most popular motorcycle rallies in the Hill Country. With major rallies in the spring and fall, they work nonstop to assure safety, organization, great memories, and a good time is had by all attending! They’ve got their start in 2000, when they arranged rallies in Liberty County and Kerrville, Texas. Two years later, they found their permanent home in Bandera. Let’s take a look at the two major events they currently host.

Boerne’s Hill Country Mile

In the hustle of modern American life, it’s easy to lose sight of an important cultural fact: it’s difficult to get everything done on your daily to-do list without a car. Too many towns have been designed with outwardly-expanding sectors of commerce that put one business or attraction miles away from another. The larger the size of the town, the more true this adage seems to be.

First, the description of this place really should highlight Susie’s breakfasts! We didn’t really know what to expect from the description, but some of the reviews hinted at her offerings. The Old House bed sleeps well, and the screened in porch may not be pictured in the description but it really is a highlight, especially at sunset. The rustic part is all good.. All in all we very much enjoyed our stay. The goal was a day of hiking at Hill Country State Natural Area along with a lot of unscheduled relaxation at the Old House. That’s what we got, and it was really lovely. We would stay again!

Had a fantastic time at Majestic Oaks! The owners are super nice and hospitable. We loved the ranch vibes, and seeing all the animals. There’s a private pool and the owners make you breakfast in the morning. Not much more you could want.

The owner's were very nice, and we loved our stay. Staying in the cabin was a great experience. Their pool area is very relaxing, and the owner made us breakfast both of the mornings we were there. If you get up in the morning, you can see them feed the horses and pet them. Their dog Molly was super sweet!

We really enjoyed our stay and will return one day! The Old House has a wonderful front porch that we used every morning to watch the sunrise, do some bird watching, and drink coffee. The house also has a screened-in porch that we really appreciated while watching a good ole' Texas thunderstorm roll in. The view of the Hill Country is spectacular, and Susie makes an awesome breakfast. Factor in miniature horses, cows, and Molly the Lab, proximity to several parks, and you just can't go wrong

This place was the perfect getaway for a few days of relaxation! Susie and Henry are extremely warm, kind, courteous hosts. They made themselves pretty scarce so we were free to use the pool and walk around, but they also checked in with us and invited us to come see the miniature horses and offered us recommendations on local spots. Just the sweetest couple! Susie also brought us breakfast every day - French toast, quiche, etc. - and they were all SO DELICIOUS! Will definitely try to recreate her recipes, and it was a lovely touch that everything was homemade. The space was very clean and cozy, with a TV and decent wifi for the area (not lightning fast, but we were able to stream movies without an issue), and the bed was very comfortable with fresh sheets. There were also plenty of blankets and clean towels, including pool towels. Make sure to bring your own large bowls and pans if you plan to do major cooking, but Susie made it clear that we were free to ask her for anything we needed. There is also a gas grill outside that was perfect for grilling meat and s'mores, a Keurig coffee machine, and basics (plates, cereal bowls, salt and pepper, silverware, small pots, large spoons, etc.). We loved going to the state parks nearby -- such beautiful scenery. The drives themselves were wonderful, too. We also loved just sitting by the pool (which was also very clean) and relaxing, or on the front porch in the rocking chairs with a book and their sweet dog Molly cuddling at our feet. The miniature horses were also adorable, and Susie invited us out to feed them with her. There were also gardens and fruit trees around the property, which just added to the scenery. The property was so quiet and peaceful - highly recommend for anyone needing a few days of relaxation and calming! And again, couldn't imagine a better host couple! :)

We connected very well with Susie and Henry (and their pets, Molly and Sophie!) and had such a fun time on the farm. The miniature horses are so friendly, and the whole place is so relaxing. We loved our weekend in Tarpley!
