Park Description

About 40 miles west of Bandera, along the banks of the beautiful Sabinal River, lie the 2,100-plus pristine acres of the Lost Maples State Natural Area. Since this is a natural area (and not a state park), its main focus is to maintain and preserve its natural status. However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty to do and see here! Ten miles of hiking trails present plenty of opportunities for wildlife and bird watching, and the foliage is amazing year round. Also, since it’s state-run, you don’t need a license to fish from the banks here! Lost Maples is open 8 AM to 4:30 PM daily, and admission is $6 for adults 13 and over.
