Property Description

The elevation of the Highlander Medina River House provides eye-popping views of the Hill Country, and a great perch for bird watching and wildlife viewing! The stairs behind the guest home are very steep, however they lead to private access to the Medina River, where you can enjoy the river to your heart's content. When you visit here, you'll not only enjoy the peace and quiet of a tranquil country setting, but you'll be just six miles northwest of the attractions of Bandera, the Cowboy Capital of the World.

This beautiful waterfront vacation rental offers more than its riverside location! It's also within an hour's drive of the Guadalupe River in Kerrville, the Lost Maples and Hill Country State Natural Areas, and Garner State Park, as well. It's a nature lover's paradise, with plenty for the city slickers to enjoy, too! (Please note before booking that the stairs leading to the river are quite steep and should not be used by those with mobility limitations or for carrying tubes, kayaks or water activity equipment. For safety reasons, children under five are not allowed on the property.)

Outside, you'll find a spacious patio with an outdoor dining area, as well as a sun deck that overlooks the river and the mountain views beyond. Both are equipped with patio furniture, as well. The Highlander also has a wood smoker and gas grill, so be sure to plan for at least one feast of Texas-style BBQ! This home serves well as a spacious retreat for your family, or a romantic couples' getaway! Keep in mind this is a non-smoking property.

Woodwork and beautiful beamed ceilings provide a welcoming environment inside. Between its three bedrooms and sleeper sofa in the living area, the Highlander provides comfy sleeping space for up to eight people. The bath is newly renovated with a shower and tub combo, and all bed and bath linens are provided. The full kitchen comes complete with all the appliances, cookware, serving ware, utensils and glasses you'll need, and there's also a laundry room! Tech-wise, there's a TV with Roku, CD player, Wifi Internet service, and good cell coverage. Interior comfort is covered by multiple window AC units, ceiling fans, and wall and space heaters.

This gorgeous Medina River cabin has everything you'll need as a home base for your next Hill Country holiday! Message us at Backroads Reservations, and we'll help get the ball rolling.

Biker Rallies of Texas

Supporting and boosting local businesses and events is at the very heart of what we do at Backroads Reservations! The good folks at Biker Rallies of Texas are the devoted organizers of the most popular motorcycle rallies in the Hill Country. With major rallies in the spring and fall, they work nonstop to assure safety, organization, great memories, and a good time is had by all attending! They’ve got their start in 2000, when they arranged rallies in Liberty County and Kerrville, Texas. Two years later, they found their permanent home in Bandera. Let’s take a look at the two major events they currently host.

Boerne’s Hill Country Mile

In the hustle of modern American life, it’s easy to lose sight of an important cultural fact: it’s difficult to get everything done on your daily to-do list without a car. Too many towns have been designed with outwardly-expanding sectors of commerce that put one business or attraction miles away from another. The larger the size of the town, the more true this adage seems to be.

Lovely little spot about 7 miles away from the town of Bandera. We loved the private, rustic nature of the home, and that we could walk down to the river (it's worth the steep climb down on the ladder). We were there in spring, and the wildflowers were all over! No dishwasher or microwave if that's a dealbreaker for you. Ample space for our party of 4. The living room was very comfortable and had a great large TV with an easy-to-use remote! The gas grill was brand new and we had several great meals using it! The lock on the outside gate was a bit difficult to open, but we got in after several rounds of trying to open it. Follow the directions to a t. We were there for the solar eclipse, so the price seemed higher than expected, but we were grateful for a great place to stay when another establishment in Bandera cancelled our reservation one month before we were scheduled to come, yet had a unit available at $1500/night, 10x what our original price was.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The front and back yard are large. If you follow instructions you will have no issues with home. The house cooled quickly and we liked the layout of home.

This place is perfect! Absolutely spacious and it has a great view from this house. It’s super clean. Its front yard and backyard are so big and my kiddos played outside. We had a great time with my family. I really love this place!
